Open Legislature and Voting

John Gannon believes the legislature should be open to all. He has given Legislative testimony regarding his belief that voting is a fundamental right and should not be made difficult by public political party registration and cumbersome voting regulations. He has testified and advocated many times against the closed primary and political party registration that results in restrictions on how people choose to vote..

In June of 2016, John challenged the presidential  caucus procedure in the Democratic Party. This process actually prevented voters from participating in the selection of the Presidential nominee.  He wrote a guest editorial in the Statesman and explained the issue on Boise State Radio:
